Culture

History
In 1799 British Captain Hiram Cox worked to resettle Arakanese refugees here, giving the town its name. Its older name was Palongki.
How to get there
1 hour by air from Dhaka, or 10–12 hours by direct train or bus. Saint Martin's Island has visitor caps and seasonal restrictions — check official notices before you go.
